Dr. Ramon Cugat Bertomeu was born on 25 August 1950. He is a well-known orthopedic and sports injuries and has treated several popular sportsmen. Dr. Cugat has treated 1000s of footballers and most players from FC Barcelona among those being Xavi, Pep Samuel, Carles, Andres, David Villa, etc. He is currently serving as a Director of Orthopedics Surgery and Traumatology Department at Quironsalud Barcelona Hospital since 2007.

Dr. Cugat is an internationally-renowned expert in Orthopaedic Surgery and Trauma Medicine and specialises in the world of sports. He is an expert in knee injuries and pioneered arthroscopic operations in Spain. He was a member of the team of orthopaedic surgeons during the 1992 Barcelona Olympic Games. In 2000, he began using Growth Factors as part of his treatments and since 2013 he has specialised in using stem cells to repair anterior cruciate ligament and cartilage injuries. Throughout his professional career, he has been linked to the football world, treating thousands of players in all categories. Some of the most famous footballers whom he has treated include: Pep Guardiola, Xavi Hernández, Samuel Eto'o, Mikel Arteta, Cesc Fàbregas, Andrés Iniesta, Carles Puyol, David Silva, David Villa o Fernando Torres.

  • Dr. Ramon Cugat Bertomeu completed his undergraduate education in 1975 at the “University of Barcelona”.
  • Then, he pursued a doctorate degree during 1975-1976.
  • In 1978, he presented his doctoral thesis and received the title of OUTSTANDING CUM LAUDE UNANIMOUSLY.
  • In 1979, he completed his specialization training in Traumatology and Orthopedic Surgery.
  • He went to England in 1979 to further specialize in arthroscopy.
